I gotcha. I think that the final one is probably the most practical IRL, and that the skeleton blade is probably pretty shitty for actually stabbing anything. I just feel that, since the game focuses so much on the foundation of the brotherhood, a hidden blade in the (vague) shape of the assassin's logo is a much better fit.
The hidden blade solves the problem. Altair releases it within few seconds, hits his target and only after that exposes himself to the crowd.
